BIKINI MODEL

The Bikini division offers a contest for members who compete at the softer range of physical development however the physique is a toned and well-balanced proportion. The work of a Bikini Diva is not to be overlooked and is bar far the fastest growing division in our competitions.

Am I a Bikini Model or Fitness Model?

Once a Bikini competitor develops increased muscle tone and/or six pack abdominals she will move into the Sports/Fitness Model division. "6 pack abdominals” serves as a very good grade. A Bikini competitor can have a flat stomach but if she has defined abdominals, they should enter Sports/Fitness Model. Competitors should display a very confident and feminine attitude and keep a relaxed posture. There is no flexing allowed. This is not a Bodybuilding or Figure competition.

Bikini Model required attire is two-piece fashion bikini. There is no restriction on fabric or style. However, avoid the 'posing costume' typical of Ms Physique and Bodybuilders. A Bikini Model will be better served to wear a bikini that displays a sense of fashion and style. Competitors also wear high heels during their round.

A Bikini competitor will deliver a combination of these objectives: Beauty Overall cosmetic appearance, photogenic, skin tone and physical appeal.

Poise and General Impression - Overall grooming, personality, self-assurance; composure and walk. Tone & Overall physical tone with no muscle separation.

The judges are not looking for muscle mass or muscle separation. They are looking for shapely, toned bodies.

Symmetry & Proportion

Overall structural harmony of the figure relative to the shape and size of various body parts and proportional balance of opposite body parts. The upper and lower extremities should flow aesthetically when viewed from all sides creating a balanced and symmetrical appearance.

In the symmetry round, all competitors face the judging panel and perform four quarter turns line-up. A Bikini competitors stage persona and self-confidence is as important as their appearance.

Sports Model

In the Sports Model division competitors present themselves as a Model. Sports competitors should move, walk, stand and perform their quarter turns like a model, not a physique competitor. Overriding the physical component (i.e., training and diet) to prepare to compete, competitors need to research and replicate how a model presents themselves on stage.

As well as the body, the judges will also pay attention to the competitor's stage presence, personality, professionalism and grooming.

Sports Models require a more superior level of conditioning than Bikini Models. A visible and defined "6 pack" will serve as a good guide to the level of conditioning that is required of a Sports Model.

Female Sports Model Required Attire is a two-piece sports outfit which is supplied to all sports model competitors. Shoes worn for this division are white sneakers and they can be of any style.

Competitors may be required to do either an individual or group walk across the stage, walking to the front and centre of the stage to perform four quarter turns in your own time before continuing to the other side of the stage. More than achieving a "Cover-girl body, judges will be paying attention to the competitor's stage presence, personality, professionalism and grooming.

Ms. Figure

The requirement for the figure division varies from female bodybuilding in subtle ways.  While Ms Figure competitors should not have the bulk of a bodybuilder, it is judged along the lines of a bodybuilding contest. As with all divisions, we require the competitors to reduce their body fat as low as possible, we-   still expect hardness and definition, but taken to the point that stops before a competitor loses their figure or shape and the individual muscle group lose their fullness or dimension.

In round one, Ms. Figure competitors perform five compulsory poses:

  • high heel shoes are worn
  • Hands remain "open" not clenched during the posing
  • Jewellery and hair decorations are allowed
  • Competitors may twist their physique during the symmetry round, but the Head Judge may ask for a straight line up if the closeness of the division requires full scrutiny.

 

Ms. Classic Figure (formerly known as Figure International)

Once on stage, all competitors face the judging panel and perform four-quarter turns as a whole lineup. Judged purely on symmetry and toned figure.

Symmetry and Proportion

  •  No body part should stand out from the rest, train a complete package.
  • There should be an even flow through the body.
  • Equal development between all muscle groups.

          Stage Presence

  • Confidence
  • Execution of quarter turns
  • Skin tone, makeup, suit selection
  • Overall Presentation

Ms Wellness

This division is for females with physiques that showcase more muscle mass/body mass in the hips, glutes and thighs.  The look is an in-between bikini and fitness model. The upper body muscularity is developed but not to the degree and thickness of the lower body. Athletes must have a flat and toned midsection. The body will have enough body fat to avoid muscle separation throughout the physique. Additional criteria are the standard markings of Beauty, Stage Presence, Presentation, and Confidence.

4 Quarter Turns

Front Pose - Both feet on the front line, slight hip tilt. The athlete must have one hand on the hip and one hand on the arm down

Left Side Pose - Turn slightly facing the judges with right hand on the hip and left arm straight down. Front leg straight & back leg bent at the knee

Back Pose - Remove hair from your back.  Do not lean forward. One hand must be on the hip and one hand down ( no hands up at the side of the head )

Right Side Pose -  Turn slightly facing the judges with right hand on the hip and right arm straight down. Front leg straight & back leg bent at the knee

Male Fitness Model

Male Fitness Models have the objective to present themselves professionally on stage as a Model over one round of competition.

Male Fitness Model Required Attire

In the fitness wear round competitors wear the supplied fitness shorts.                                                                         

The way the Male Fitness Model division is presented will vary at each show depending upon the stage configuration and number of competitors.

Competitors may be required to do either an individual or group walk across the stage, walking to the front and centre of the stage to perform four quarter turns in your own time before continuing to the other side of the stage. Following the individual presentation, the whole group is brought on stage for comparisons of the quarter turns.

Judges look for:

Fitness Wear Round

 Body: Physique should display a fit body with a well presented abdominal section.

Appearance: Does he look like a fitness model? Projects a natural healthy appearance?

Stature: ability to move, turn and stand with confidence.

Symmetry: Overall shape and line.

Structural flaws: Skeletal assessment.

Physique: ls his physique appealing?

Poise: Does he walk and his stage presence with confidence?

Charisma: General impression

Mr. Physique

CRITERIA

  • Excellent Body Conditioning, Good Muscularity & Symmetry.
  • Fit & Athletic Physique - Not the bulky mass of a bodybuilder.

Judges will be looking for fit and athletic contestants who display the proper shape and symmetry combined with muscularity and overall condition. This is not a bodybuilding contest so extreme muscularity size will be marked down.

  • Stage Presence and Personality

Competitors will be asked to walk on stage in shorts. No shirts and no shoes or sandals will be allowed to be   worn onstage. Judges are looking for the contestant with the best stage presence and poise who can successfully convey his personality to the audience.

Posing

The competitors will walk on stage in a group and be directed to do quarter turns and then a series of mandatory poses.

Classic Physique

This category is one of the true classic posing styles of the art of building and is open to all male competitors as the set poses allow an athlete to demonstrate their attributes.

 

Bodybuilding

Round One - Symmetry

In this round, Competitors will face the Judging panel and perform four quarter turns. This displays their physique from every angle. The quarter turns are performed with both feet flat on the floor with arms at either side. Bodybuilding competitors should not twist or turn their physiques during this round.

In this round we are looking for the following:

  1. Structural flaws - Faults within the competitor's skeletal structure
  2. Proportion - The balance of onl3 muscle group to another e.g. lower body to upper body, biceps to calves, waist to quadriceps etc.
  3. Balance - The left side of a competitor's body compared to the right, the front compared to the rear.
  4. Symmetry - The competitor's overall shape and line.

When competitors turn to the side, the ear, shoulder, hip, knee and ankle should be in a straight line. There should not be excessive curvature of the spine. The back should have the same degree of muscle thickness as the chest and the hamstring and gluteus should be as full as the quadriceps. When the competitor's tum to the rear, check that the spine is straight and does not curve to either side, also check the muscular development of each side of the back.

In this round, Judges consider the muscularity of the particular muscle groups. Judges assess a physique as consisting of nine major muscle groups: Chest, Back, Shoulders. Triceps, Biceps, Abdominals, Quadriceps, Hamstrings and Calves. Competitors should lose points for having too much fat on each muscle group.

Round Two - Muscularity

In these round competitors perform the following compulsory poses. Muscle size and dimension is emphasized - judges reward bodybuilders.

Front Double Biceps Front Lateral Spread Side Chest

  • Side Triceps
  • Rear Double Biceps
  • Rear Lat spread Abdominals and Thigh
  • Most Muscular

In these round judges are comparing competitors for the following;

Muscularity - The shape, thickness and quality of muscle.

Proportion - The balance of one muscle  group against another.

Definition - Muscle separation, definition and vascularity.

Balance - Left side of the body compared to the right, front compared to rear.

 


DEFINITION OF DIVISIONS:

Height

There can be many different height classes set by the promoters, an example is Class 1: (Under 157.5cm). Check entry form.

First Timer

First Timer means you have never competed before in any federation. First Timer means this is your first contest. You can enter multiple First Timer divisions in your first contest. Note: First Timer does not mean this is your first time in the division – so do not enter a First Timer division if you have competed previously.

Novice

is your first year of competing in a specific division. This means enter your first contest between January 1 and June 30 your Novice status continues until December 31. (Novice for Season A and B). Enter your first contest between July 1 and December 31 your Novice status continues until June 30 the following year. (Novice for Season B and A).

Momma

You must have had children, we may split the division by time since birth of last child, as in less than 2 years, 2-5 year's, 5+ year's at the discretion of the promoter.

Teenage

Teenage is 19 and under on January 1st. Check entry form.

Junior

Junior is 21 and under on January 1st. Check entry form.

Masters

There are many Master divisions a promoter may offer, 30+, 40+, 50+, 60+, 70+ and even 80+. Master divisions take your age on the day of contest. Check entry form.

Intermediate

Entry is eligible only to competitors who have not ever placed Top 3 in the Open Class of the division they are entering (and also not placed Top 3 in Intermediate in the past). Not everyone is ready to do an Open Division especially after just doing Novice, So this a good stepping stone. Intermediate is not divided into Height Classes. To enter a Height Class in your division you will still have to enter the Open.

Open

Open is the highest level of any particular Division where the best of the best is determined.

The ICN in Australia has a minimum age requirement of 15 years for any competitor

In the front-on position, look for balance - even development on each side of the body. Also proportion, is the lower body developed to the same extent as the upper body? Is the neck the same size as biceps and calves?
